Pre-Season Matches

Con casi todos sus jugadores a sus disposición, a excepción de losque participaron en el Mundial, Sir Alex Ferguson y su staff ya están haciendo las preparaciones para la Pre-Temporada. Ya se ha confirmado donde sera la gira: Estados Unidos, donde el club jugara distintos partidos amistosos contra equipos de la MLS, incluyendo el All-Star Team y el Celtic Glasgow. A diferencia de Pre-Temporadas anteriores, esta es un país con una liga de calidad, la MLS ha crecido mucho y hemos trabajado para ganar en estos partidos, lo cual es una buena noticia para que el equipo no llegue flojo al Community Shield.

Exceptuando a los lesionados (Ferdinand, Owen, Nani y

Hagreaves), todos los jugadores estuvieron disponibles para el partido. En este partido pudimos jugar contra un rival de calidad como es el Celtic, donde Ferguson pudo probar jugadores jóvenes como Evans, Obertan, "Kiko" Macheda o uno de los últimos fichajes: Chris Smalling, la actuación del ultimo me dejo un sabor amargo por ese penal a Giorgios Samaras, que termino en el 1 a 1 en ese momento, errores como esos son aceptables en la Pre-Temporada pero en la Premier League o en Champions, un error como ese puede hacernos perder el partido e incluso el titulo. Desde mi punto de vista, Berbatov fue el mejor jugador en un partido muy gris, en verdad pude ver a ese elegante delantero que brillo en White Hart Lane de nuevo. Una victoria cómoda pero nada para ilusionarse.

El segundo partido fue ante el Philadelphia Union. El equipo local nos dio un partido muy duro, donde nos pudo haber marcado un gol de no ser por los fallos de sus delanteros. Uno que no me ha terminado de convencer es Evans, quien debería ser el sucesor de Rio en la central pero todavía lo veo algo nervioso en ciertas jugadas. A pesar del dominio Estadounidense, pudo salir la calidad de jóvenes promesas como el delantero Danny Welbeck y extremo francés Gabriel Obertan, quienes causaron casi todas las ocasiones de peligro, el ultimo marco el gol del triunfo, en una victoria uno a cero.

El partido mas decepcionante hasta ahora, el que jugamos contra el Kansas City Wizards. Mostramos una debilidad en la zona defensiva que no debemos permitir en la temporada, fueron esos errores los que causaron el primer gol del Kansas City. Después de ese gol reaccionamos y gracias a una acción individual de Berbatov, se nos dio un penal a favor que el búlgaro definió con la clase que lo distingue. Casi al final del primer tiempo, se nos adelanta el Kansas con un gol de cabeza que demuestra lo mal que estuvo nuestra defensa en este juego. La segunda mitad fue mas de lo mismo, nada sobresaliente aparte de algunos tiros de nuestra parte.

Y finalmente, el partido contra el All-Stars Team. Estaba esperando ver a algunos jóvenes y Fergurson me dio el placer de ver a los Obertan, Gibson, Rafael, "Kiko" Macheda y Cleverley contra lo mejor de la MLS, incluyendo a la leyenda de Boca Juniors, Barros Schelotto y dos conocidos del Manchester, Juan Pablo Angel y Landon Donovan. El partido comenzó excelente con el oportunismo de Macheda en un error defensivo del rival para marcar el uno a cero antes de que pasara el minuto de juego. Durante todo el partido pudimos dominar sin mucho esfuerzo al rival y cercano a los 12 minutos de juego, "Kiko" Macheda apareció de nuevo con un gol de cabeza. Macheda me gusto mucho en este juego porque marco las que le dieron. Otro que me gusto fue Rafael, quien lleva demostrando desde la temporada pasada que puede ser el sucesor de Gary Neville en el lateral derecho. En el segundo tiempo, el All-Stars Team tomo control del partido y marcar el gol del dos a uno pero después aparecieron Gibson, con un tiro libro espectacular y Cleverley, con una jugada individual magistral para sentenciar el juego. Javier Hernandez hizo su debut y a pesar de marcar un gol de buena factura, no ha terminado de demostrar cualidades para ser considerado entre las primeras opciones de Sir Alex, antes que el se deben considerar las actuaciones de jóvenes como Cleverley y Welbeck (Quienes se Irán cedidos, según Ferguson) o Gibson, Obertan y "Kiko" Macheda, el ultimo demostró ser mas completo que Hernandez. Se hablara del mexicano pero se debe saber que hay otros jóvenes con mayor talento y proyección en el club.

Todavía queda un ultimo juego de Pre-Temporada, contra el Chivas de México para estrenar su nuevo estadio, el Omnilife. La Pre-Temporada en general me deja un buen sabor de boca ya que ganamos casi todos los juegos y varios jugadores de futuro demostraron su calidad, el cual es el objetivo general en estas giras.

With almost all of his players training, except the ones that played in the World Cup, Sir Alex Ferguson and his staff are doing the preparations for the Pre-Season. It has already been the location for the tour: United States, where the club will play several Friendly Matches against a few teams of the MLS, including the All-Stars Team and Celtic Glasgow. Different to previous Pre-Season , this is a country with a quality league, the MLS has grown a lot and we have to work hard to win in this matches, which is a good news because we want the team ready for the Community Shield.

Excepting the players with injuries (Ferdinand, Owen, Nani and Hargreaves), all the players were available for the match. In this game we played against a quality rival such as the Celtic, where Ferguson tried young prospects like Evans, Obertan, "Kiko" Macheda or one of the last signings: Chris Smalling, the performance of the last one didn't please because of that penalty to Giorgios Samaras, that ended up equaling the score 1 on 1 in that moment, mistakes like that are aceptable in the Pre-Season but in the Premier League or in Champions, a mistake like that one can cost us the match or even the Trophy. From my point of view, Berbatov was the best player in a gray match of the Red Devils, I actually saw that elegant Striker that shinned in White Hart Lane again. An easy victory but nothing to dream about.

The second match was against the Philadelphia Union. The local team really gave us a hard time, where they could had score if it weren't for their strikers' mistakes. A player that doesn't end to convince me is Evans, who should be Rio's successor in the center of the defense but I still see him somewhat nervous while defending. Despite of the american control, the quality of young players like the Striker Danny Welbeck and the french Right-Back Gabriel Obertan came out to the surface, these two cause pretty much all our oportunities to score and Obertan scored the winning goal, in a 1-0 victory.

The most disappoiment match so far, the one that we played against the Kansas City Wizards. We showed a weakness in the defensive area that we can't allow in the season, were those mistakes that made Kansas City's first goal. After that goal we react and thanks to an individual move of Berbatov, we were granted a penalty kick, which the Bulgarian striker scored with the elegance that distinguishes him. Almost at the end of the first half, Kansas scored their second goal of the match with a head strike that showed how bad was our defense in this game. The second half was more of the same, nothing outstanding besides of some shots of our side.

And finally, the match against the All-Stars Team. I wanted to see some youngs players and Ferguson granted me the pleasure to see Obertan, Gibson, Rafael, "Kiko" Macheda and Cleverley against the best of the MLS, including Boca Juniors' legend, Barros Schelotto and two United familiars, Juan Pablo Angel and Landon Donovan. The match couldn't start better with Macheda's opportunism in a defensive mistake of the rival to score the first goal in the first minute of game. During the whole match we were in control of the game without too much effort and close to the 12 minutes of game, "Kiko" Macheda appear again with a head strike. I really like Macheda in this game because he scored the chances that he had. Another one that I liked was Rafael, who's proving since the last season that he can be Gary Neville's successor in the right side of the defense. On the second half, the All-Stars Team took control of the match and scored the 2-1 but after that appear Gibson, with a wonderful free kick and Cleverley, with a magival move to end the match. Javier Hernandez made his debut and despite he scored a goal of nice quality, he doesn't prove to have the quality to be in Sir Alex's first choices, before him the staff have to consider the performances of players such as Cleverley and Welbeck (They will go on loan, according to Ferguson) or Gibson, Obertan and "Kiko" Macheda, the last one proved to be much more complete than Hernandez. There will be discussions about the mexican player but people have to know that we have young players with much more talent and future in the club.

We still have one Pre-Season match left, against the Chivas of Mexico to open their new stadium, the Omnilife. The Pre-Season, overrall, leaves me with a good taste of mouth because we won almost all the games and several young players showed their quality, which is the general objective in these tours.

Remember Me: George Best

"Maradona good, Pele better, George Best"

Esta sección, "Remember Me", sera usada para hablar sobre las leyendas que han pasado por nuestro gran club. El primer jugador del que voy a hablar no podía ser otro que uno de los mayores artistas del fútbol, el mayor genio que ha pasado por Old Trafford y el fútbol ingles en general: George Best.

Nacido en Belfast, Irlanda del Norte el 22 de Mayo de 1946 y fallecido el 25 de Noviembre de 2005, Best seria descubierto a los 15 años por el scout del Manchester Bob Bishop, quien le dijo al entrenador de esa época, Matt Busby que le había "Encontrado un genio". Después de dos años en las categorías inferiores, George debuto en la Primera División contra el West Browwich. Después de unos meses, se empezó a establecer en el club y llevar al United a una de sus mejores épocas desde 1965 hasta 1968.

Ya a la edad de 20 años, George Best (Cambien conocido como "El Quinto Beatle") ya estaba entre los mejores de mundo, ganando la Copa de Europa con el Manchester en el '67 y un par de Ligas ('65 y '67) y alucinando, no solo a los hinchas de los Red Devils sino a todos los demás aficionados del fútbol mundial. Después del retiro de Alfredo Di Stefano, Best se volvió el mejor jugador de esa época.

George Best poseía características que pocos jugadores en la historia del fútbol han tenido, tenia velocidad, aceleración, gol, una técnica que tal vez solo Zidane podría igualar y una capacidad incomparable para llevarse a los defensas, driblar al portero y marcar el gol pero al mismo tiempo, hacerlo ver tan fácil. Una vez me dijeron que las personas que vieron jugar a Di Stefano pensaban que Don Alfredo era mejor que Pele, en ese caso, quien haya visto a George Best sabrá que el era mejor que The King, Eric Cantona, a quien muchos consideran el mejor jugador que ha tenido el United, fue una leyenda, si, pero no al nivel del "Quinto Beatle".

Pero no todo fue perfecto para este genio. La fama y la fortuna terminaron dañaron su carrera hasta el punto que los directivos del Manchester los dejaron ir en 1974, su carrera siguió pero ahora solo saltaba de un equipo a otro, sin siquiera llegarle a los talones a lo que logro en el United. Con la selección Irlandesa no logro nada pero pudo mostrar algunos destellos de su magia, un claro ejemplo es esa memorable jugada que termino en un caño a Johan Cruyff en 1976, cuando Johan era el mejor jugador del mundo.

This section, "Remember Me", will be used to talk about the leyends of our great club. The first player that I'm going to talk about couldn't other than one of the biggests artists of football, the greatest genius that the Old Trafford and the english football in general has ever seen: George Best.

Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland the 22 May of 1946 and past away in Nomvember 25 of 2005, Best would be discovered at the age of 15 by Manchester's scout Bob Bishop, who told the coach of that time, Matt Busby that he had"Found a genius for him". After two years in the young categories, George would make his debut sgainst West Bromwich. After a few months, he would establish in the club and he would take United to one of its best times from 1965 to 1968.

In the age of 20, George Best (Also know as the "Fifth Beatle) was one of the best players of the world, winning the European Cup with the United in the '67 and a couple of League Cups ('65 and '67) and thrilling fans, not only United fans, but football fans in general. After the retire of Alfredo Di Stefano, Best became the greatest player in that time.

George Best had abilities that only a couple of players in the history of football have been able to posses: He had speed, aceleration, goal, skill that only Zidane could match and a uncomparable ability to dribble defenses, dribble the goalkeeper and score the goal but at the same time, make it look so easy. One time someone told me that the persons who saw Di Stefano playing thought that Don Alfredo was better than Pele, in that case, who ever saw Goerge Best would know that he was better than The King, Eric Cantona, who many people think he's best player in the history of the United, he was a legend, yes, but not at the level of "Fifth Beatle".

But not everything was perfect for this genius. Fame and fortune end up ruin his carreer 'til the point that the directives of the Manchester let him gone in 1974, he kept playing but now he was just jumping from a team to another, without even compare to what he did in the United. With Northern Ireland's National team he did not make anything but he could showed a few glimpses of his magic, a clear example is that memorable against Johan Cruyff in 1976, when Johan was the greatest player in the world.

La sección "Know Him" sera utilizada para informar y analizar los fichajes del United. En esta oportunidad hablaremos del primer fichaje de Ferguson para la temporada 2010/11: El Delantero Javier Hernandez.

Hernandez, nacido en

Guadalajara, México, el 1 de Junio de 1988

proviene del Chivas de Gua

dalajara, donde jugo 64 partidos y marco 26 goles. En el ultimo torneo, el Torneo Bicentenario 2010, marco 10 goles en 17 partidos. En la Copa del Mundo con la Selección Mexicana marco 2 goles: Uno contra Francia en la Fase de Grupos y

el del orgullo contra Argentina en los Octavos de Final.

Desde mi punto de vista, el fichaje de Hernandez por el United es un error garrafal por parte de Ferguson. He podido ver sus partidos con Chivas y México y no le he visto características para poder jugar en uno de los equipos mas importantes del mundo y en una liga tan complicada como la Premier League.

En los partidos que le he observado me ha demostrado mas defectos que cualidades: No tiene movilidad, se queda como punta caminando por la cancha, cuando el balón esta en sus pies no demuestra ninguna señal de calidad técnica, en otras palabras, es torpe. Tampoco tiene sacrificio ya que nunca pelea las pelotas y solo espera que sus compañeros le formen las jugadas. Yo describiría a Hernandez como un Gerd Müller sin gol ni sacrificio.

La única razón por la que ha hecho tantos goles en México es porque cada seis meses hay un delantero que sobresale pero que la siguiente temporada baja su nivel considerablemente. Ferguson esta buscando renovar el equipo y yo estoy a favor de esto pero no creo que el Hernandez vaya a funcionar, esperemos que este equivocado.

The section "Know Him" will be used to inform and analyze the United's newest signings. In this opportunity we'll talk about Ferguson's first signing for the 2010/11 season: The Striker Javier Hernandez.

Hernandez, born in Guadalajara, Mexico, 1, June, 1988 comes from Chivas of Guadalajara, where scored 26 goals in 64 games. In the last tournament, the Torneo Bicentenario, he scored 10 goals in 17 games.

In the World Cup with Mexico's National team he scored two goals: One against France in the Group Phase and the pride goal against Argentina in the Eighths of Final.

From my point of view, Hernandez's sign for the United is a huge mistake made by Ferguson. I have been able to watch his games with Chivas and Mexico and I didn't saw him characteristics to play in one of the most important teams in the whole world and in such a complicated competition like the Premier League.

In the games that I saw of him playing he showed me more flaws than qualities: He doesn't have mobility, he stays like a main striker walking through the field, when the ball is on his feets he doesn't show any sign of individual skill, in other words, he's sloppy. He doesn't have sacrifice, either because he never fights for the ball and just waits for his partners to make the plays for him. I would describe Hernandez like a Gerd Müller without goal or sacrifice.

The only reason he scored so many goals in Mexico it's because every six months there's a Forward that makes a great season but the next one he lowers his level. Ferguson is looking to renew the team and I really like that idea but I don't think Hernandez is going to work, let's hope I'm wrong.

United to the World

Quisiera comenzar este blog mencionando la actuación de los Red Devils participantes en la Copa del Mundo, aprovechando de que todos se fueron ya a casa, algunos de buena actuación y otros que no rindieron a su nivel.

Park Ji-Sung (Corea del Sur): En un gran mundial de la selección asiática, Park fue el líder del equipo dejando destellos de su clase como se puede apreciar en el gol contra Grecia donde demuestra su astucia al robar el balón al defensa, encarar y definir ante Tzorvas. Demostró, como nos tiene acostumbrados en Old Trafford, su dinámica, entrega y compromiso con el equipo en la fase de grupos y en los octavos de final, en el reñido encuentro ante Uruguay (A la postre uno de los semifinalistas). En mi opinión el mejor Red Devil en el Mundial.

Michael Carrick (Inglaterra): La selección Inglesa, una de las principales candidatas a ganar el Mundial (Y mi candidata), fue eliminada rápidamente en los octavos de final perdiendo cuatro a uno ante una espectacular selección Alemana. Una de las criticas al seleccionador Ingles, Fabio Capello, y personalmente también una critica de mi parte, fue la elección de no colocar en el once titular a Michael Carrick, quien ha rendido de forma consistente con el United por cuatro años y quien tampoco vio minutos desde el banquillo ingles. Un trato inmerecido para un jugador tan completo como Carrick, quien pudo haber aportado mas al once que Gareth Barry o inclusive, los intocables Frank Lampard y Steven Gerrard, quienes han demostrado que no funcionan bien juntos.

Wayne Rooney (Inglaterra): El mejor jugador del United en la ultima temporada pero, tristemente para los ingleses, el peor jugador de su selección en el Mundial. Wayne llego a Sudáfrica para ser uno de los mejores jugadores del certamen pero no cumplió las expectativas ya que en todos los partidos mostró un rendimiento bastante pobre y se marcho sin marcar ni un solo gol. Personalmente, creo que esa lesión que ocurrió contra el Bayern Munich en Champions afecto gravemente el rendimiento de Rooney, disminuyendo sus posibilidades de hacer un buen Mundial porque disminuyo su ritmo de juego. Junto con Cristiano Ronaldo, la mayor decepción del torneo. Es una lastima, ya que Wayne es un crack y lo único que le falta en su carrera es una buena Copa del Mundo.

Patrice Evra (Francia): La selección Francesa llego con varios problemas a Sudáfrica, tanto como en el ámbito deportivo y fuera del mismo. El Mundial no mejoro esa situación, llegaron como un equipo con pocos problemas y cuando se fueron, tenían mas problemas que un libro de Edipo. No voy a hacer énfasis en este tema y empezare a hablar sobre el rendimiento de nuestro jugador. El rendimiento del lateral zurdo no fue decepcionante pero al mismo tiempo no demostró el nivel que muestra cada domingo en Old Trafford. A veces me cuesta recordar si Evra fue a Sudáfrica o no por las actuaciones que tuvo. Todo lo que rodeo a la selección termino afectando a los jugadores, como Evra, quienes tenian su cabeza fuera de la cancha.

Nemanja Vidic (Serbia): Como el Mundial pasado, Serbia (Ahora separada de Montenegro) llego como una de las mejores selecciones de la Uefa pero fue eliminada en la fase de grupos debido a una poderosa selección Alemana y una sorprendente selección de Ghana, quienes clasificaron finalmente a los octavos de final. Nuestro Red Devil, Nemanja Vidic, tuvo una Copa del Mundo aceptable, considerando el bajo rendimiento de su selección (A pesar de que le gano a Alemania) ya que lidero efectivamente una defensa con jugadores de alta calidad, tales como Ivanovic (Chelsea) y Kolarov (Lazio). Nemanja pudo mostrar su calidad en la zaga defensiva, tanto en el juego aéreo como a ras de piso. Cumplió pero tampoco fue de los mejores defensas en el Mundial.

Javier Hernandez (México): La selección Mexicana, como nos tiene acostumbrados, no fue mas que una maquina de vender humo en este Mundial. Resultados grises y una humillante y merecida goleada ante Argentina es el mayor recuerdo del "Tri" en esta Copa del Mundo. Entre lo mas decente estuvieron jugadores como el prometedor extremo Pablo Barrera (Quien suena para los Red Devils), el capitán Rafael Marquez y el lateral ambidextro Carlos Salcido pero del jugador del que todos hablan en México es del ultimo fichaje de Ferguson: Javier Hernandez. Desde mi punto de vista, Hernandez no hizo nada espectacular para ser considerado entre las primeras opciones de ataque de Sir Alex. A pesar de sus dos goles, no mostró cualidades para pelear un puesto de titular con "pesos pesados" como Rooney, Owen o Berbatov. No voy a extender mi análisis sobre Hernandez, el recibirá su propia sección.

I would like to start this blog mentioning the performance of the Red Devils in the World Cup, despite the fact that everyone is at home already, some of them went with good performances and some of them with a really low level.

Park Ji-Sung (South Korea): In a World Cup where the South Korea national team had a a great performance, Park was the leader of that team, leaving flashes of his class like the goal against Greece when he use his intelligence to steal the ball from the defense, face and strike before Tzorvas. He showed, like he does in Old Trafford, his dynamic, sacrifice and commitment with the team in the Group phase and Eighths of final, in the fierce match against Uruguya (One of the teams that are in the Semi-Final). In my opinion, the best Red Devil in the World Cup.

Michael Carrick (England): The England National team, one of the main favorites to win the World Cup (And my favorite), was quickly eliminated by a spectacular Germany team in the eighths of final with a score of four to one. One of the criticize to England's Manager, Fabio Capellom, and personally, one of my criticizes too, was the choice of not putting Michael Carrick in the starting eleven, who has been playing for the United for four years at a consistent level, who didn't even saw minutes from the bench. An undeserved treatment to a complete player such as Carrick, who could had done more for the team than Gareth Barry o even more than the untouchables Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard, two players that have proved that they can't play very well together.

Wayne Rooney (England): The best player of the Manchester United this season but sadly for the England team, the worst in the World Cup. Wayne came to South Africa to be one of the best players in the competition but he didn't measure up to the expectations because in every match he showed a very poor level and he wasn't able to score a single goal. Personally, I think that the injury Rooney had against the Bayern Munich in the Champions League really lower his posibilities to make a good World Cup because he came to the competition without game pace. With Cristiano Ronaldo, the World Cup's biggest disappointment. It's really a shame, he's a great player and the only thing he's lacking is a good World Cup.

Patrice Evra (France): France's National team came to South Africa with several problems, in the sport area and other subjects. The World Cup didn't improve this situation, they came like a team with a few problems and when they finished, they had more problems than a book wrote by Oedipus. I'm not going to expand about that subject and I'm going to talk about the performance of our player. The performance of the Left Back wasn't disappoinment but it was not the level he shows every Sunday in Old Trafford, either. Sometimes I'm having problems to remember if Evra went to South Africa or not because of his performances. Everything that sorrounded the National ended up distracting the players, with Evra included, who had his head outside the field.

Nemanja Vidic (Serbia): Like the past World Cup, Serbia (Now separate of Montenegro) came like one of the best teams of the Uefa but it was eliminated in the Group phase due to a powerful Germany and a surprising Ghana, the two teams that manage to get to Eighths of Final. Our Red Devil, Nemanja Vidic, had an acceptable World Cup despite his country's low level (Even thought they defeat Germany) because he led a defense with players of great quality such as Ivanovic (Chelsea) and Kolarov (Lazio). Nemanja manage to showed us his quality defending, playing at air and at Evenness of floor. He played well but wasn't one of the Defenses in the World Cup, either.

Javier Hernandez (México): Mexico's National team, like it had us used to, wasn't than a machine of selling smoke in this World Cup. Pale results and a humiliating and well deserved defeat before Argentinawas the biggest memory of the "Tri" in this World Cup. The most decent players in this competition were the promising Midfielder Pablo Barrera (Who the Red Devils are interested in), the captain Rafael Marquez and the Ambidextrous Back Carlos Salcido but the player everyone in Mexico talks about is Ferguson's newest player: Javier Hernandez. From my point of view, Hernandez hasn't donde anything spectacular to be considered between Ferguson's main choices in attack. Despite his two goals, he didn't prove to have the quality to fight a space in the starting eleven with "Heavy weights" such as Rooney, Owen or Berbatov. I'm not going to expand my analysis about Hernandez, he'll get his own section.
